We all use Mobile Bay in some way. Whether it is living on the water, boating on the water, or eating seafood harvested from the Bay, everyone uses Mobile Bay, directly or indirectly. The issue of Human Uses concerns making sure Mobile Bay is available to all those whose desire access to the water.

Researchers have developed a list of "users groups" who have an interest in Coastal Alabama. Commercial and recreational fishing combine to form a large group of users. The commercial industry is dependent on the bay for jobs and the recreational group of fisherman contributes to tourism economic dollars in our area. Commercial and industrial groups have found Mobile Bay to be an desirable location. The deep water port of Mobile provides shipping as a transportation alternative, as well as the river system, providing transportation routes inland. This group of users also provide economic contributions to our area through products and jobs.
