HOW TO BUILD CAGES/FLOATS

The Page Cage was modeled after the square baskets used in the Chesapeake Bay and was designed by Blan Page and Kim Hamilton.  It's the best design for volunteers with piers.

Dimensions =  1.5’ x 1.2’ x 0.7’
Carrying Capacity = ~250 adult oysters

Therefore, a volunteer growing 1,000 oysters would need 4 cages.

The Mobile Bay Float was modeled after Eastfields Floats (Mathews, VA) and was designed by Blan Page and Kim Hamilton.  It's the best design for volunteers that do not have piers, but rather anchor this float in the open water.

Dimensions = 3’ x 1.5’ x 0.5’
Carrying Capacity = ~350 adult oysters

Therefore, a volunteer growing 1,000 oysters would need 3 floats.
