Katherine Eddy, Community Relations Coordinator

 

Kathy Eddy, a native of San Diego, joined the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program in early 2012, as the Community Relations Coordinator. 

She earned her BA in journalism and public relations from California State University, Fresno.  Kathy spent 15 years in governmental public affairs for several agencies in Kern County, CA, including schools, airports, waste management, and as the county’s Public Information Officer.  She co-founded Kern County’s Emergency Public Information Officers Team and studied emergency management at the California Specialized Training Institute, FEMA’s Emergency Management National Training Center in Emmitsburg, MD, and through the Centers for Disease Control.  She taught public relations, public speaking, technical writing and other communications courses at California State University, Bakersfield for 10 years before moving to the Eastern Shore. 

Kathy lives in Fairhope with her husband Howard, two teenage sons, Jesse and Matt, and two dogs.  The family enjoys boating and football.
